The takeaway

Useful expertise and evaluation evidence can strengthen a dataset’s commercial story. Fundraising figures cannot establish its price.

What was reported on September 22

Company claims reported by Reuters: Snorkel AI raised $350 million at a $3.5 billion valuation and said its annualized revenue run rate exceeded $350 million. The report describes a shift toward supplying finished datasets and reinforcement-learning environments, combining domain experts with automated processes.

What the financing does not establish

This is a funding and supplier-growth story, not a disclosed payment to a business owner. Annualized run rate is also distinct from revenue earned over a full year. Neither figure tells us what a particular company’s records will fetch. We keep this September development dated explicitly rather than presenting it as an October announcement.

Our analysis: explain the knowledge in the records

Start with the difficult decisions your team makes: resolving ambiguous service requests, handling maintenance exceptions, interpreting operating procedures or choosing among competing priorities. Document the context and the evidence an expert uses to judge a good outcome.

A buyer-facing description should explain what the dataset could help an AI system practice or evaluate, what preparation is still required and who can validate the examples. Avoid claiming a model improvement that has not been measured.

Your next step

Use our data inventory guide to describe the systems and expertise behind your records. Then check your data’s fit. If connectivity or evaluation usefulness is the main uncertainty, start with a quality review request.
