The takeaway

Useful evaluation packages connect starting conditions, allowed actions and a checkable result. A polished answer alone does not prove an agent did the job.

What the October 6 paper measures

Author-reported research: CheckerBench introduces 300 tasks derived from 297 CVEs across 167 repositories, 85 weakness categories and five language ecosystems. Agents must construct static-analysis checkers. The evaluation independently rebuilds their work and measures vulnerable-versus-fixed behavior, localization, false positives and tool use.

Across 21 model-and-harness configurations with three repeats, the reported mean Pass@1 was 32.30%; the best reached 45.33%. These are the paper’s results, not an independent replication.

The limits of the comparison

This is a software-security benchmark. It does not establish how an agent will handle a private ITSM queue, a factory exception or a procurement approval. Its commercial relevance here is a design lesson, rather than proof of demand for a particular company’s records.

Our analysis: turn workflow records into testable episodes

For a support process, define the starting ticket state, the policy available to the agent, the permitted tools and the conditions for a valid resolution. Include examples where escalation is correct and examples where closing the ticket would be wrong.

For an approval process, preserve the applicable rule and the evidence available at the time. A later outcome should not leak into the agent’s initial view. Keep held-out evaluation examples separate from training material so a result actually tests generalization.

These are preparation choices a supplier can control. They help a buyer inspect usefulness before debating volume or price.

What to include in a sample

Offer a small set of internally reviewed episodes with identifiers, timestamps, actions, final states and an explanation of how success is checked. If a resettable environment is proposed, specify what can be reset and which external dependencies have been simulated.

Start with our guide to complete workflow data. The two-minute assessment identifies whether your records already capture decisions and outcomes; quality review examines the evidence.
